Transportation
For intercity transport, I used louages, shared minivans of 7-8 passengers that leave when all the seats are filled. They were convenient, and I never had to wait more than 10 minutes for one to depart. Simply buy a ticket at one of the counters and then board the appropriate minivan.
| Route | Mode of Transport | Duration | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cairo → Tunis | Plane | 3.5 hours | $244.00 |
| Tunis → Sousse | Louage | 2 hours | $4.50 |
| Sousse → El Jem | Louage | 1 hour | $2.27 |

To get around the cities, I used the ride share app InDrive. Taxis are actually cheaper, but I didn’t want to go through the hassle of negotiating. What’s nice about inDrive is that you set a rate, and drivers can choose whether or not to accept it. I took 11 inDrives for a total of $44.77, averaging $4.07 per ride.
